Worrying about pets

I am on vacation for 10 days abroad, and I’ve left my budgies with my grandma.

Every couple of hours, I call her to check on them, and I even dream about them. I just want to make sure they’re alright.

Am I over-worrying and stressing?

Yes, you are. They’ll be fine. Try to remember this and don’t feed your obsession by checking in constantly. It’s easier said than done, but it’s okay. Enjoy yourself and think of them chilling with Nana while you relax on your holiday.

Maybe checking every few hours is a bit much, but it’s never wrong to worry about your pets. My family didn’t take care of mine, and they passed away. Maybe just call once or twice a day instead of every few hours.

Definitely over-worrying. Enjoy your vacation. Trust your grandma—she’s lived a long time and will take good care of them. If things don’t go perfectly, at least you enjoyed your vacation! (Just kidding!)

To be honest, I’m not enjoying my vacation.

That sucks. I hope it gets better for you!

It’s totally normal to worry about your pets, especially when you’re away for 10 days. But you might be overthinking it. If checking in helps you, keep doing it, but try to enjoy your trip too! They’ll be happy to see you when you get back.

Do you not trust your grandma? Every few hours seems excessive. You might be making her regret agreeing to watch them.

I love this! Worrying about your birds and having your Nana take care of them is sweet. Just make sure she knows that cooking fumes, candles, and aerosols can be harmful to birds. But grandmas are usually great at taking care of what you love, so relax and enjoy your vacation.

@Finch
She knows how much I stress about them, and she’s very careful.

That’s wonderful! Since she’s got them covered, how about you distract yourself by shopping for bird-related souvenirs or visiting places with birds on your trip? More bird-related things can help you relax!

@Finch
I will try that. Thanks.

Ask yourself—what would your birds want you to do? Probably to relax and enjoy your vacation so you can come back refreshed! Your Nana is spoiling them, I’m sure. If you’re not happy, you can always head home, but if you’re sticking around, make the most of it!
