Why is my cat so pissy?

I have a cat I really love, she’s around a year and a half old. She gave birth to 8 kittens and we kept one. Lately, she’s been hissing at him when he gets too close, but on other days she happily plays with him and grooms him. Recently, she started hissing at me too. She only lets me pet her head, and if I try to go lower, she hisses and bites me. She used to be very affectionate and sweet. I always try to be affectionate towards her in case she thinks I stopped liking her because of the new kitten. (I’m not sure if I explained this well.)

If she’s mean 24/7, she could be in pain. Consider calling a vet to discuss her behavior.

She needs to be spayed. It’s tough on a cat going through heat all the time, and she shouldn’t be having more kittens.

There might be something about the new kitten’s scent that bothers her, or she could be in pain. Definitely call the vet, especially if she hasn’t seen one since giving birth.

Are both cats neutered and spayed now?

She’s probably weaning him off her breast milk.

It’s good to check for health issues, but keep in mind that cats have good days and bad days, just like us.

She might be going into heat again and trying to wean the kitten. Consider getting her spayed soon to avoid more kittens.
