I’m a 14-year-old girl and I have 2 cats and a dog. Over the past two weeks, one of my cats, who is usually not very cuddly with me, has started sitting on me, purring, licking, and kneading me. She just turned 7 months old on September 14th. When we first got her, she was mainly attached to me for the first couple of weeks, but after that, she started to spend more time with others in the house as I got busier. She’s always been friendly and likes everyone, but you know how cats usually pick their favorite person… That wasn’t me anymore after those first weeks.
We recently moved to a new country, and since then, she’s been really affectionate with me, especially when I’m sitting with my brother. She comes into the room, meows, and jumps on my lap until she falls asleep. Before, she was all about my mom and little sister, but now it feels like I’m the favorite again. I don’t feed her or clean her litter box much (my mom and brother do most of that), so nothing on my end has really changed. Could it be the move? Or maybe she’s picking up on my energy since I’ve been working on being more positive and empathetic?
PS: My other cat, who’s around 2 years old, hasn’t changed at all, so it seems like it’s just this one that’s more attached now.
Looks like she’s picked you! It might be because of the move and now she feels safe with you. You’re probably her go-to person now. Enjoy these moments, and it’ll help you build a stronger bond.

Aww, that’s amazing! She’s literally sleeping on me right now, it’s the cutest thing ever!
@Evren
I love when cats are affectionate because it feels like you’ve earned their trust. It’s like they finally decide you’re safe and worth it. Enjoy!
Cats can go through different phases. My older cat changes a bit too—sometimes super cuddly, sometimes more independent. They have evolving personalities, unlike dogs.
Just enjoy it! I work from home and spend my days with my cats and dog hanging around me. They all chill near my desk. It’s great, no need to question it!

That sounds so sweet! I’m definitely going to just enjoy it while it lasts!
