What is the difference between Frontline vs. Advantage for Pet Flea Control?

Hey pet owners,

I’m looking for advice on flea control products for my pets and noticed there’s some confusion between Frontline and Advantage. Can someone please clarify the differences between Frontline and Advantage? Which one is more effective in treating and preventing fleas? Are there any significant differences in safety, application, or duration of effectiveness? I want to make sure I choose the best option for my pets. Any experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks…

Both Advantage and Frontline are effective against fleas and ticks, but they have different active ingredients and work in different ways.

  • Advantage contains imidacloprid, which kills fleas on contact.
  • Frontline contains fipronil, which spreads through the oils of the skin and hair follicles to kill fleas and ticks.
