I have been having a lot of trouble with my neighbor’s dogs lately, and I don’t know what else to do. She has ten pitbull/husky mixes that are about four months old, and they’re all super aggressive. The first time we saw them, two of them tried to attack my mom while she was taking the trash out. A few days later, they were in our yard trying to get at my chickens and having a standoff with my dog. Since then, it’s just been one incident after another. I’ve messaged my neighbor so many times, but she’s ignoring me now. Other neighbors have even called animal control, but nothing is really getting done. My dog, who’s half blind, has been attacked multiple times, and it’s getting scary. What can I do to keep my pets safe? I don’t want to get her dogs taken away, but something has to give.
Call the police every time her dogs are loose. It might seem harsh, but that’s your best bet.

I might have to. I’ve already called animal control, but it didn’t solve much. They said they can only issue a citation or help with fixing her fence.
Call animal control ASAP. Ten dogs is a lot, and if she’s not taking care of them properly, it’s only going to get worse. What happens when they start breeding?

Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. She said her family was supposed to take most of them, but they’re all still there.
You should report every single time they’re loose or aggressive. You should also consider carrying something for protection, like pepper spray or even a bat.

I’ve been thinking about getting some pepper spray, just in case. I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I don’t feel safe anymore.
Does your area have any laws about the number of dogs a person can have? You might want to look into that. Where I live, you can’t have more than three without a kennel permit.

Yeah, here you need a kennel permit for more than four dogs, which she doesn’t have. I’ve already reported that, but they haven’t taken any real action yet.
Make sure to document everything—photos, videos, and keep a log of every time they come into your yard or cause damage. This could help if you need to take legal action.

Good idea, I’ve been trying to get video when I can. I’ll definitely start keeping a better log of everything.
