Trying Late Cat Hygiene Training

I have a 7-year-old female cat that I raised after she was abandoned at my workplace. She was separated from her mother too early and didn’t learn to groom properly. I have to sneak up on her with a warm, wet towel every couple of days, and she protests every time. Recently, I had an idea—I smeared a dab of olive oil (which she loves) on her backside to see if that would help encourage her to clean herself. Right now, she’s turning in circles trying to find out where that delicious smell is coming from. Fingers crossed this works!

Lemme know how it goes!

I might have to try this on my hairless cat. She’s never been good at grooming, and it’s a bit of a mess sometimes!

She gave up on finding the initial dab, but I managed to catch her again with a decent amount on her backside. Unfortunately, I forgot to wear gloves, so I got a little surprise in return!

My cat had some tummy issues when I adopted her, which affected her grooming too. I feel like a predator when I have to clean her up, but it’s necessary!

Have you tried coconut oil? It can be helpful for grooming too!
