Should I reach out to a dead pet's owner?

I was hiking and stumbled upon a cat skeleton that had a tag with info on it. It seems like it’s been gone for a while. If it was your cat, would you want to be contacted about it, even after all this time? Just curious about what people think… thanks!

That’s a tough one… I think I’d want to know, even after years. Just to have closure, ya know?

Totally get that. But like, what if it’s a painful reminder? IDK, it’s a tricky situation.

@Ali
Yeah, for some it might be too much. But I’d still appreciate the call, I think.

I’d want to know for sure. Animals are family, and it’s nice to have that closure.

Right? It’s like, you want to honor their memory. But I guess it depends on the person.

What if they didn’t want to hear about it? Like, maybe they’ve moved on…:thinking:

Good point! Maybe it’s best to leave it alone unless they’ve given permission somehow.

Yeah, I guess you could always ask how they feel about it first.

I think it’s really kind of you to consider this. Maybe just reach out gently?

Wow, that’s a unique situation. I’d be curious to see if they’d want to know or not.

Same here! It’s such a personal thing, though. I hope it works out well.
