Hey everyone, I could really use some advice. So my dad, who’s in a wheelchair, has a friend who’s always trying to boss me around. I want to microchip my two indoor cats, but my dad keeps saying there’s no need. My gut tells me to do it, though, because sometimes my dad will ask this friend to help out, and I worry that something could happen. What do you think? Should I microchip them and put the info in my name? Thanks for your time.
Yes, indoor cats can definitely find a way to escape sometimes.
Absolutely! It also proves ownership, which is important. Just make sure to keep your info updated with the chip company.

Totally agree! I spent $20 to update ownership info on my cat’s chip, and it’s so worth it. You never know when they might sneak out, and if they do, you want to be sure they come back to you.
Yes, it’s really helpful if they ever get lost or sneak outside. Plus, in some places, it’s legally required now.
In the UK, it’s the law for all cats to be microchipped, indoor or outdoor.

Really? I thought that was just for dogs. I just Googled it, and yeah, it’s for cats too. That’s great!
Yes, because cats are sneaky and can slip out without you even noticing.
I wish I had microchipped my cat 15 years ago. She got lost while staying with my ex, and I never saw her again. It still hurts to this day.
Yes. Indoor cats can still escape, and a microchip ensures they can be returned to you. Without it, someone might think they’re a stray and keep them or send them to a shelter.
In the UK, it’s required for all cats to be chipped. Even indoor cats can get out, and a chip can help reunite them with you.

Exactly! And even though it’s rare, people do abandon pets, and having a chip makes it easier to track down the owners.
Do it for peace of mind. One day, if your cat gets out, you’ll be glad they’re chipped.

Why would your dad say no? There’s no downside, except for maybe the cost.
Sounds a bit controlling, to be honest.
It’s worth it for peace of mind, even if you never need to use the chip. Better safe than sorry.
It’s cheap and simple to do, so there’s really no reason not to. Plus, it helps if they get lost.
I’m going to microchip my cat for extra peace of mind. I’d be devastated if I lost him.
Yeah, it’s not expensive or a big deal to get done, so why not?
Yes, in case they ever get out, the microchip will help you get them back. Plus, it proves ownership.
It’s not really up to your dad. If you want to chip them for peace of mind, do it.
