Please help (cats)... they keep fighting at night

My cats keep fighting at night, and it’s endless. I get up to stop the fights, but it just keeps happening no matter how much I exercise them. I know they’re play fighting, but my female cat screams every time they play, while the male rarely even meows. It’s keeping me up at night!

I read that giving them meat just before bedtime will help.

I can try. Do you think duck jerky would work?

How old are they? My cats seemed to mellow out at about two years of age.

Take them to the vet. Prozac might help. My vet suggested it, and she settled down a lot.

Mine get Zylkene after their late evening playtime (around 11pm). They finally let me sleep! Vet recommended this.

Bottom line, if you have cats fighting (not just play fighting) at night, you should consult a vet. Here are some tips from experience:

  1. Separate them at night to avoid injuries until the vet says otherwise.

  2. Pets thrive on routines, so stop playing with them in the middle of the night.

  3. Use earplugs or listen to calming music to help you sleep.

  4. Consider inexpensive calming collars; I’ve heard they work.

  5. Make those vet appointments for behavioral advice. Hope it all works out!
