My Dog Ate a Lansor Pill - How Worried Should I Be?

I’m really concerned right now because I saw my dog chewing and swallowing something on the ground. I went over immediately and found two Lansor pills, so I’m assuming she ate one of the three.

What should I do? How worried should I be about this? Are there any immediate steps I need to take or symptoms I should watch for?

Thanks in advance for your advice

You should contact your vet or an animal poison control hotline immediately.

Lansoprazole, the active ingredient in Lansor, can be harmful to dogs if ingested in large quantities. Even if you did not see your dog swallow the entire pill, it’s crucial to seek professional guidance.

Symptoms to Watch For:

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Abdominal pain

Do not attempt to induce vomiting without consulting a vet.

The vet will assess the situation based on your dog’s weight, the amount of Lansor potentially ingested, and any symptoms your dog is showing. They may recommend inducing vomiting, administering activated charcoal, or closely monitoring your dog.

Time is of the essence. Please contact your vet or an animal poison control hotline as soon as possible.
