My cat simply will not let me cut his nails

I’ve tried doing it when he’s calm and he just won’t let me have his paws. I’ve tried swaddling him, but he constantly squirms and writhes and I’m afraid he’ll hurt himself. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you’re still struggling to make progress, consider seeking the assistance of a professional dog trainer or behaviorist who can provide personalized guidance and support.

Associate paw handling with positive experiences by rewarding your dog with treats and praise when he allows you to touch his paws. Start by simply touching his paw briefly, then gradually increase the duration and intensity of the handling as he becomes more comfortable.

Be patient and go at your dog’s pace. If he becomes anxious or uncomfortable, take a step back and try again later. It’s essential to build trust and confidence gradually rather than rushing the process.
