My cat just gave birth and won’t let me take one of the kittens to the vet—what should I do?

Hello…My cat gave birth to three kittens two days ago. One of the kittens has a wound on its back, and the mother cat won’t breastfeed this kitten—she’s feeding the other two. Whenever I try to take the injured kitten to the vet, the mother cat gets very protective and grumpy, covering the kitten and not letting me get near it.

I’m really concerned about the wounded kitten and unsure of the best course of action. What should I do to ensure the kitten gets the medical attention it needs without causing too much stress for the mother cat?

Baby cat needs to be spayed after she’s done feeding. There are too many useless cats in shelters.

Bring the whole family along. Arrange to get them all mended while you’re there.
