Moving with Cats

Hello! I’ve had my two cats for 2 and 1 year now, but I’m moving out next week. I’m a bit anxious about the whole process and was wondering if anyone had tips on how to keep them comfortable in the new place. They’re both relatively calm cats, but I really want to minimize any stress while moving. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on the move! To help your cats adjust, try to keep their routine as normal as possible. Pack their things last so they can still use their litter box and eat normally until the last minute.

Definitely set up a quiet space in the new place just for them. Put their bed, toys, and some familiar items in there. It’ll give them a safe zone to retreat to while they explore their new surroundings.

I second what FelineFanatic said! Also, consider using a pheromone diffuser to help calm them down. It can make a big difference in easing their anxiety during the transition.

Great idea! I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll definitely look into getting a pheromone diffuser.

When you get to the new place, let them explore at their own pace. Don’t force them to check out every corner right away. Just give them some time to adjust to the new smells and sounds.

And don’t forget to keep their feeding schedule the same! Familiar feeding times can help them feel secure amidst all the changes.
