Is it safe to give cats Miralax?

Hey guys, I have a senior cat who’s been having trouble going to the bathroom. We tried giving him pumpkin, but he won’t eat it. I’ve been reading online that Miralax might help, but we’re hesitant to try it. Has anyone else used Miralax for their cat? Is it safe, and how much should we give?

Consult your veterinarian. To start, they would suggest adding a quarter teaspoon to his moist meal and mixing it up. Give him only wet food; he needs the moisture in his diet. Don’t give him any more dry food because it is constipating. He might only require a tiny half teaspoon if he’s a large lad. Odorless and tasteless is polyethelene glycol, sometimes known as miralax or purelax.

Miralax (Polyethylene Glycol 3350) is generally considered safe for cats when used correctly. It is an osmotic laxative that helps soften stools by increasing the water content in the intestines. However, it is advisable to consult your veterinarian before giving any medication to your cat, especially since your cat is a senior.
