Is it okay to keep a kitten in my room?

I found a kitten, she’s about 7 or 8 weeks and seems very calm already but playful with toys. I’m considering keeping her in my room with a whole cat setup. The reason for this is our older husky is too playful and could accidentally hurt her. I plan to introduce them slowly and will never let the kitten out with the husky alone.

Keeping the kitten in your room sounds like a safe plan, especially with the husky around. Just make sure she has plenty of stimulation, like toys, scratching posts, and places to explore. A window hammock is a great idea for her to enjoy the view!

It’s important to give her a safe space, especially at her age. A litter box in your closet is fine as long as you clean it regularly. Just ensure she has enough room to play and move around.

Don’t forget to gradually introduce the two pets! Supervised interactions will help them get used to each other. Good luck with the harness training too; it’s a fantastic way to get her outside safely!

Just keep an eye on her behavior. If she starts to feel too confined, you might need to adjust your setup or provide more enrichment. But it sounds like you’ve thought this through!

Cats are pretty adaptable, so as long as she has enough enrichment and safety, your room can be a good space for her. Just make sure she feels loved and secure!
