I need help rehoming my cat, I’m sorry

The title says it all. I know some people might judge, but at this point, it is what it is. I have two wonderful cats that I love so much. I’ve had them for over a year, and they’re well taken care of. Unfortunately, I lost my job, and things started to fall apart. I’ve been homeless since August 31st, 2024. Now I have a job, but I’m just jumping from hotel to hotel. It’s impossible to get into housing; they always say I don’t make enough, etc. These past couple of months, I promise they’ve been okay, but I feel so bad they’re going through these dark times with me. I don’t know how and when I’m gonna get out of this situation. It’s hard for me to take care of myself, and my dream is to put them in a beautiful home. I’m in the Los Angeles County area, specifically San Dimas, and I’m wondering if anyone knows good shelters where I can drop them off. I don’t want to do this, but I know it’s time to let them go. They don’t deserve this, and I don’t have the funds or energy to keep jumping around with them. It’s just been so hard. I want to ensure they go to a no-kill shelter. I’m highly self-aware, so any negative thing you say, I probably have already told myself in the mirror. My babies deserve a steady home with loving people.

I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this. It’s really tough, but you’re doing what’s best for your cats.

Thank you… it means a lot. I just want them to be happy.

Have you checked out local rescues? Some might help with rehoming or even foster care.

Yeah, definitely look for rescues! They often have resources for situations like yours.

@Jess
I will! I just want to make sure they’re safe and happy.

Check out the ASPCA or local shelters that are non-kill. They might have options for you.

Thanks! I’ll look into them. Just trying to find the best solution.

You’re doing a brave thing by considering rehoming. Just know that you’re not alone in this.

Thanks for saying that… it really helps to hear that.

I can’t imagine how hard this must be. If you need support, there are local groups online that can help.

I really appreciate that. Just feeling a bit lost right now.
