I hate my roommate's cat

Does anyone know how I can approach my roommate about his obnoxious cat? She meows all night because she’s in heat, and for some reason, she only wants to be at my door and not my roommate’s… it’s so strange and so annoying. I have to wear my headphones all day because she’s rubbing herself everywhere around my door. I cannot stand it; I’m losing my mind… any advice on how to handle this?

Tell him to desex his cat. Absolutely zero reason to keep a female entire if you aren’t planning on breeding. And someone who is sharing space with others is not equipped to be breeding. She needs to be confined to his room during the evening if she’s screaming the house down. Hopefully having to listen to it will motivate him to be responsible.

@Lyle
It’s so unfortunate. I told him about it, and he said he won’t neuter her because he wants kittens??? But she’s an indoor cat, and they have no other cats around. I feel bad, but she’s so annoying no matter how much I nudge her away from me. She also doesn’t meow all day practically until she knows I’m in the house.

@Amos
If he won’t prevent the behavior, then she needs to be confined to his room while you are home.

Tell him he needs to be a responsible pet owner and get his cat spayed. There is ZERO reason not to, and the fact she isn’t is downright irresponsible.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks it’s irresponsible!! And my fiancé thinks I’m being cruel and it’s just a natural occurrence.

@Amos
It is cruel NOT to get her spayed. People who don’t really piss me off.

Remind them that nature doesn’t care about long-term survival, health, or well-being, only an animal’s ability to live long enough to reproduce (continue the species).

Spaying/neutering increases life expectancy by an average of 39% in females, 62-64% in males, because it decreases stress and sexual frustration, prevents reproductive diseases, and decreases the risk of certain cancers.

If he won’t get her fixed, there’s not a whole lot you can do about it.

You can try putting a smell cats don’t like around your door to maybe keep her away, but she’s going to keep up this behavior until she’s out of heat. And she will go back into heat at some point in the future.

Cats don’t like the smell of citrus and lavender; there’s some other stuff too.

@Drew
I know this might be TMI :sob: but I’m on my period, and my friend said that maybe the cat can sense it???

That honestly could be some real shit :laughing: cause basically she’s also on her period, she’s like “Girl we synced up” :skull::joy:
