Human ignorance meets canine loyalty (vent)

I work with adoptions and rescues in Kochi, and today I got a call that really made me question humanity. A guy wanted to give away his 8-year-old dog who hasn’t seen a proper vaccination in ages just so he could buy a new puppy. I told him I couldn’t help because I only take in dogs if their situation is truly dire. Seriously, dogs are not disposable; they’re not like last season’s fashion trend!

When I explained this, he insisted it was his personal choice and I should mind my own business. Then he hit me with this gem: “If you were married and wanted a divorce, who would stop you?” I couldn’t help but reply, “Are you actually married to your dog?”

Things escalated, and he verbally assaulted me like I was his least favorite politician. Honestly, if only he could channel that energy into compassion! Here’s hoping he figures out the true meaning of loyalty, preferably before he gets a new, younger sidekick! :man_fairy:t5:

Wow, that’s infuriating! How can people be so callous? Dogs are family, not just accessories.

Right? It’s heartbreaking to see such ignorance. That dog deserves better than being tossed aside for a puppy.

Exactly! It’s like they forget that dogs have feelings too.

I can’t believe he tried to compare that to a divorce. It’s a dog, not a relationship! People need to get real.

Ugh, so frustrating! If only people understood the commitment they’re making when they adopt a pet.

Totally! It’s a lifelong responsibility, not a temporary trend.

I hope he changes his mind and realizes how loyal his dog has been. Pets deserve our love and respect.
