How to Adopt a Rescue Dog When Your Applications Keep Getting Denied

I can’t figure out how to get approved for a dog adoption. I’ve been mostly denied because my mom has a purebred puppy that she plans to breed, so getting him fixed is off the table. Because of this, I’ve been put on a no-adopt list, even though the dog isn’t mine and I’m not a breeder. I tried being upfront by explaining that I only own a cat and that the dog belongs to my family, but it hasn’t helped.

We have a big fenced-in backyard with lots of room, beds, and toys, and both my mom and I are home most of the time to train and care for our animals. We also have a vet where they get treated for fleas, heartworms, etc. I always include all the animals and people living with me on the application, but I keep getting denied because of my mom’s unfixed dog that she plans to breed in the future.

Should I start only listing my cat on the application? I’ve never had a dog of my own, and I didn’t want to go through a breeder, but I feel like I’ve been blacklisted from adopting. I even asked the director if I could be taken off the list if I moved out to my own apartment, where there would be no dogs, but he told me he wouldn’t contact me further. I’ve been flagged as a breeder, even though I’ve never owned a dog before.

Is there anything I can do or look into to adopt a puppy, even though I’ve been blacklisted?
