Hello guys, I have never had to trim my cats’ nails because we trained them not to scratch furniture or each other when they were young. But now we’re getting a dog, and I want everyone to stay safe during the introductions. So, I need to clip their nails. Any advice would be great, as I prefer not to bring in a groomer or stress them out by taking them out. Thanks in advance!
To begin with, acclimate your cats to having their paws softly touched. To make cutting your nails seem good, use cookies or other forms of positive reinforcement. Cut only the sharp tips of your cat’s nails with cat-specific nail clippers; do not cut the quick. To reduce stress, gradually begin nail trimming in brief sessions.
