Flea collars for Cats

I am preparing to put flea collars on my cats, but I have read mixed reports about how they make their animals sick or die, while some say they are the only thing that works. Cat owners, what is your view or experience with having your cats wear flea collars?

OTC prevention methods should be avoided because they’re less effective than vet-grade options and are often linked to adverse effects, though these are rarer than most people think. In fact, your cat is more likely to get its jaw stuck in a collar than have a reaction to the medication.

No treatment is 100% risk-free, and while some cats may get sick or have mild reactions, most will be fine.

I don’t like collars since they can get stuck, especially if the cat goes outside. Flea/tick collars often don’t break, so this can happen indoors too. I’ve seen cats get their lower jaw stuck on them.

I prefer NexGard Combo as a topical solution.

I use Pet Armour for the drops. Works well. I use this for my dog.

I’m glad it does, I hope you pair it with heartworm prevention as well.
