Does cats cry with tears

Do cats cry with tears, similar to how humans do when they are sad or in pain?

I have heard different opinions on this.

I just need clarity guys.

@Brielle Cats can and do have emotions they even grieve. While it’s true that cats’ eyes sometimes get watery, they don’t cry tears for emotional reasons. If you’ve seen a cat with tears in their eyes around the same time they are upset or grieving, it’s probably just a coincidence.

Nope, those sad kitty eyes aren’t brimming with emotional tears like ours. Cats definitely have tear ducts, just like us, and use them to keep their eyes lubricated and clear of dust. But while we cry to express sadness or pain, feline tears are more of a practical thing. If you see your cat with watery eyes, it might be allergies, an eye infection, or even a blocked tear duct. So, next time your fur-baby seems down, listen to their meows instead of mistaking tears for sadness!
