I don’t know about you, but every night my dog sleeps near my legs, and I just pick him up and hug him until I fall asleep. He doesn’t object, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t planning on it either 
. Anyone else do this, or is it just me?
Haha, I totally get it! My cat is super independent, but I sneak in cuddles when she comes running for food. It’s the only time she lets me pet her 
. Food is the real MVP in our relationship.
My pets definitely decide when they want love… I’m just a humble servant to their whims.

Yup, pets deserve consent just as much as people do.
We have this game we call ‘let’s mildly annoy our pets,’ where the goal is to get attention without making them walk away . My cat will tolerate anything for a good scritch at the end. My partner’s cockatoo loves the playful nonsense, but only if it’s coming from him!
Same here, I do it too. The key is respecting when they’ve had enough. But if they’re fine with it, it’s cuddle time!
My dog doesn’t need forced affection… He’s basically an affection sponge. I poke him, and he wags his tail, tap him, and he nudges me for more . He gets sad if I don’t give him attention and will dramatically sigh next to me. So, no need to force it; he demands it!
My dog has no concept of personal space, so if he sits on my face, I think I’m allowed to sneak in a cuddle here and there .

Same! My big ol’ dog loves being used as a pillow or backrest. He practically begs for it .

Yes! I have pet rats, and sometimes I just scoop them up for cuddles. But I’m always careful to read their body language so I know when they’re done .
I use a specific voice to let my pets know when they’re about to get some love and affection. They know what’s coming, and I swear, they get ready for the snuggles.
No, I don’t force it. I’m big on consent with my pets because I know how important it is from my own experiences as a survivor of abuse. Touch should always be a choice.
