Do I Take My Cat or Leave Him Home?

Hi! So, long story short, I have a job opportunity that will take me far away for six months. My fiancée and I have a dog and a cat. The dog is her baby—she had her before I met her. The cat we got together about 8 months ago, and he’s now a year old. The cat was my idea, but he’s taken a liking to my fiancée since she’s home more than I am. He does cuddle with me too, but if we’re both home, he chooses her over me.

The cat also loves the dog, though the feeling isn’t really mutual—she could care less about the cat! Anyway, I’m wondering if I should bring the cat with me for some emotional support during the adjustment period, as I do tend to get homesick when I move for contract work. Or should I leave him with the rest of the family and wait until they can join me in about 4 months?
