I’m a sophomore in high school, and I’ve had a pet rabbit for 4 years. Today, my dad unexpectedly brought home a puppy that someone at his work didn’t want. My rabbit was not happy, and while the puppy is cute, I don’t think we can take care of him. My dad works a lot, and so does everyone else in my family. I’m stressed because it feels cruel to the puppy to be kept in our old, dark basement. What should I do?
Could you talk to your dad about finding a better home for the dog? It’s not a good setup for him.
Has your mom said anything? Maybe she can help convince your dad to return the puppy.
It sounds like the dog deserves better. Maybe you can find a home for him without telling your dad?

That might be the best option. Keeping him in that basement isn’t fair.
Just make sure your rabbit is safe. That’s really important too.
I feel bad for the puppy. If it were me, I’d contact a no-kill shelter and see if they can help.

That’s a good idea. Dogs shouldn’t be stuck in a basement all the time.
