My dog has fleas, and our vet suggested calling a professional. But with a toddler, I’m not comfortable using pesticides indoors. We’re treating the dog, washing everything, and having the house deep cleaned. Any non-pesticide tips or products that are safe for kids and effective against fleas?
You’re on the right track! Treating the dog and cleaning thoroughly will help. One method is placing a dish of soapy water on the floor under a light. Fleas will jump in and drown.

Thank you!
Vacuum everything, even furniture, and empty the vacuum immediately. I used to do this daily when my cat had fleas, and it worked within a few days.

Are they on you too? If so, a deep clean might be necessary. Otherwise, focus on treating the dog and vacuuming.

My daughter has bites, but it’s been recent. The dog’s been itching for a while, though.

You’ll need to be aggressive. Fleas have staggered generations, and the eggs can survive in cracks. Good luck!
Fleas live in bedding, rugs, and corners. To get rid of them, cover mattresses with plastic and deep clean rugs. Fleas can’t survive without a host or a place to hide.

Once you treat your pet with flea meds, the fleas in the house will eventually die off.
No fleas here in northern Nevada! One reason I love it.
This spray worked well for me and is safe around people and pets once dry: vet kem
