Hey guys, I hope you’re all doing well! I’m reaching out because I need some advice. So, my roommate fell in love and moved to the other side of the world, asking me to take care of her 7-year-old dog, Jimmy. I immediately said yes because I love him! A year has passed, and now he’s 8. I’ve taken him to the vet and I’m doing my best to keep him happy and healthy. I stopped asking my former roommate for money because I assumed I’d end up keeping him. However, she mentioned that she eventually wants him back. The thing is, all our common friends say that Jimmy is much calmer and happier now than he was before (he’s a traumatized dog from the streets). I just don’t think it’s right to keep changing owners. Plus, how would I even know which owner he would prefer? What should I do?
That’s a tough situation! It sounds like Jimmy has really bonded with you. Maybe have a heart-to-heart with your former roommate about how much he’s changed?
For sure! It’s really unfair to keep moving him around. He deserves stability. Have you thought about adopting him officially?

I’ve considered it! But I’m worried about what my roommate will say if I do.
Honestly, if he’s happier with you, that should matter most. It’s not just about ownership; it’s about what’s best for him.
Definitely talk to your roommate. Maybe she’ll understand that Jimmy has found his home with you. It’s about his well-being!
I agree! If you’re giving him a loving home and he’s thriving, that’s what counts. Good luck with everything!
