3 year old cat cries every night

Yes, I know my cat wants attention. She’s bored at night, hates closed doors, and wakes up my kids. I’ve been awake since 2 am with no sleep because of her. We love her, but I’m seriously considering finding her a new home. This is worse than newborn sleep.

She’s healthy, gets playtime, and has another cat to play with. If you shut the door, she scratches at it and cries for hours. Putting her in the basement doesn’t help either. I’m not sure if she needs medication. I’ve tried anxiety drops and Feliway plug-ins. I don’t know what to do anymore. Help?

Just before bedtime, use a prey sequence to play with her until she becomes exhausted. Does she have a reason why she can’t join you in bed?

@Devin He doesn’t snuggle. For most of the night, my other cat spoons. She simply bursts in to wake you awake. At night, we alternate who gets to run her. It’s on my list of essentials for kids. We all wake up if we leave the bedroom doors open. Cries or throws objects from room to room. She cries and scratches at the doors if we close them. There is no daytime occurrence of this behavior.
