Phew! What a wild two years it has been. I always knew that once a dog hit two, they’d ‘be better,’ but I never truly realized how hard those first two years were until my husband and I got our first dog together. I was ready to throw in the towel when he turned 4 months old. I did all the research, lined up professional training weekly, trained with him every single day, and sent him to daycare to help with his energy… it was still incredibly difficult. Thank the good Lord he just turned two and is finally becoming that good dog I’ve always dreamt of having. Feel free to commiserate, but honestly, I just want to remind you that puppies are tough for the first few years. Research the breed, be knowledgeable, and give yourself and your dog some grace.
Both of my dogs were older when we adopted them. I’ve never had a puppy, but I know they can be a handful. My dogs have been pretty mellow from the start.
I totally relate! My pup was a handful too. It’s like they have a seventh gear when they’re young!

Right? It’s like they have endless energy! But it does get better, thankfully.
I had a similar experience! It was tough until my dog turned two. Now he’s so much easier to handle.

Yes! I think they just need that time to mature. It’s so worth it in the end.
I’m currently in the thick of it with my 10-month-old! It’s exhausting but hearing your story gives me hope.

Just hang in there! It really does get better. You’ve got this!
Training is key! I found that consistency helps a lot. Keep at it and you’ll see progress.

Absolutely! I think having a routine makes a huge difference for both the dog and owner.
