Hey, I’ve never had to trim my cats’ nails before because we trained them early on not to scratch things up. But now that we’re getting a dog, I want to make sure everyone stays safe during introductions.
Any tips on how to trim their nails? I’d rather not stress them out by taking them to a groomer.
Once you get the hang of it, trimming your cats’ nails at home can be a bonding experience and save you money on professional grooming in the long run.
Trimming your cats’ nails at home can be a calm and stress-free experience for both you and your pets with the right approach.
Hold your cat nicely but gently to make sure that no one gets hurt. Rest the cat in the crook of one arm while holding one paw with the other hand.
This process is risky so if you can’t achieve it it is better to take your cat to a vet or another person to do the necessary work.
@DolpGabbana Now I’m working on mine! I thus push out her claws and give her a reward when she’s content and drowsy on my lap. I’ve already had 8 snipped! The best advise I’ve seen is to not feel obligated to complete it all at once—even one task per day would enough. I put treats on top of the clippers so she wouldn’t be terrified of them, so now when I pull them out and make the noise (mine sound like scissors), she runs. YouTube has a ton of videos. You can accomplish it! Wishing you luck!
