What is the best dog carrier you have tried?

Hello, fellow pet owners,

I’m on the hunt for a new pet carrier for my dog. I had a small one that we used for a trip about two years ago, but he has grown out of it since then. We’ll be flying soon, and I need a carrier that fits the Delta main cabin under seat requirements, specifically 18 x 11 x 11. My dog weighs around 12 pounds. I’m looking for one that is expandable, so he has some extra space when we are at the airport, but I’ve seen comments saying that the sides can make the inside feel cramped when it’s not expanded. It’s also important that it has openings on three sides for ventilation. I’m busy with work, but I want my dog to be as comfortable as possible during our flight. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I recently got a carrier that fits those dimensions! It’s expandable and has mesh on three sides, which really helps with airflow. My dog loves it. I think it’s called the Petmate Sky Kennel.

That sounds like a solid option. Does it compress well when you need to fit it under the seat?

@Hollis
Yeah, it does! The sides fold in nicely, and it’s not too cramped inside. My dog can curl up without feeling squished.

I’ve heard good things about that one too. I think it’s a popular choice for travelers with pets.

I’ve been using the PetFusion carrier, and it’s been great. It’s also expandable and super comfy for my dog. The mesh sides allow for great ventilation, which is a plus for airport travel.

That sounds promising! Is it easy to carry around? I need something lightweight since I’ll be juggling a lot at the airport.

@Micah
Definitely! It has a padded shoulder strap that makes it easy to carry. Plus, it folds flat when not in use, which is super convenient.

I think I’ve seen that one in stores. Does it fit comfortably under the seat?

@Niko
Yes, it fits perfectly! I’ve flown with it a few times, and it’s always been accepted without any issues.

I went with the Sherpa Original Deluxe. It’s a bit pricier, but it has a great design and fits well under the seat. It’s also very durable.

@Kieran
Yes, it has mesh panels on the sides, which helps with airflow. My dog seems to love it!

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely check that one out too. I just want to make sure my dog isn’t stressed during the trip.

I got a carrier from Amazon that has great reviews. It’s also expandable and has mesh on multiple sides. My dog feels safe and cozy in it.

That’s awesome! Do you remember the brand? I’d love to look it up.

@Niko
Sure! It’s called the PetAmi Deluxe Pet Carrier. It’s been a lifesaver for my travels.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll add that to my list. I just want to make sure he’s comfortable on our flight.

I think it’s really important to make sure your dog feels safe during travel. Have you considered using familiar blankets or toys to help with that?

That’s a great idea! I’ll definitely bring along some of his favorite toys to keep him calm.
