New landlord wants to know how far we'll go to keep our pets?

So, our new landlord initially said no pets allowed, and because of that, we started the process of rehoming our pets. But yesterday, the landlord messaged my husband saying they’re reconsidering and want us to write down what we’re willing to do to keep our pets. The obvious answer seems to be covering any potential damage, but the way they worded it—‘tell me what you are willing to do to keep your pets’—feels a bit off. If I had received this instead of my husband, I would be kind of weirded out. I’m not sure if there are other things we should include in our response.

That sounds really strange. I’d definitely include being responsible for any damages and maybe even pet insurance.

I’d be cautious about how to respond. It’s kind of a weird request, honestly.

I think being upfront about your pets’ behavior would help too. If they’re well-trained, that could ease their worries.

Honestly, if they’re reconsidering, that’s a good sign. Just be honest about what you can do.

It’s definitely a strange way to ask. Just keep it professional and clear, I guess.
