My fluffy jerk of a dog

I have a super fluffy rescue dog that does not like to cuddle at all. It breaks my heart a little because he is so soft and fluffy. Every once in a while this little fluff ball will come up to me when I’m laying down on the couch and rest his adorable little face on my chest and look at me with sad little puppy eyes. And I will reach my arm around to hug him… and he licks my armpit. And I fall for it every single time. He’s too cute; there’s no hope for me.

How long have you had him?

It can still take time. We rescued a doxie a couple of years ago, and he took a long time to warm up to us. It was close to the year mark when he finally decided I was his one and only. We lost him to a ruptured gall bladder, and I miss the hell out of that little guy.

I totally get it. My rescue took a while to warm up too. Sometimes they just need more time to feel safe.

He sounds adorable even if he is a little jerk. That’s the charm of rescue dogs, I guess. They all have their quirks.

Have you tried getting some cozy blankets or a special bed for him? Sometimes that helps them feel more comfortable.
