My dog has had a really long seizure

She’s had three already.

I was not home for the first, and her second one lasted around 6 minutes before she returned to us. It usually took her about 40 minutes to get fully aware again; she would simply roam the house and meet us when we were not all present. We put her on seizure medication and prepared an emergency nasal spray in case she had another.

Take her to the veterinarian or the emergency room. She has to be examined and checked. Do not increase her medications without consulting a veterinarian.

Have they carried out any brain scans? Seizures this long could signal something happening in the brain, such as some form of growth.

Her sibling has Cushing’s syndrome, so perhaps she does as well? What about a brain growth?

It’s possible, many diseases have the potential to be passed on genetically, so if a littermate has similar issues it’s worth looking into

My dog developed Cushing’s. It got awful near the end of her life. She was not having seizures. But she couldn’t stand up anymore. She was frequently weary, couldn’t play properly, and had frequent skin problems. Despite having numerous medical challenges, she had a long and happy life.

Please take her in for comprehensive testing. It is pricey, but the situation is critical.

The advice I can give is to take her (Dog) to an emergency vet.

My dog too suffers seizures that last roughly 5-7 minutes. I’ve taken him to multiple veterinarians and had him inspected, but nothing indicates that anything is wrong with him. However, I discovered that the food he was eating was causing the seizures, so I replaced his dry food, and he no longer gets seizures unless he consumes human food, such as bread or anything containing gluten. I am curious if your dog is reacting similarly to his diet.
