My cat is jealous?

I have a four-month-old male cat. He is most of the time affectionate and even playful with people he has never met including strangers. He walks around to go in and out of stores and other places and returns to the house. Today my neighbor left in our care his 1-year-old toddler for the day. He was cool, but after a few hours, my cat suddenly hissed and scratched the baby. It was the first time the man showed aggression. As far as I know, I am not very much updated about the cat’s behaviors (Lucy), is my cat jealous of the toddler or is there any other reason?

Children can unintentionally frighten animals with sudden movements, loud noises and not understanding their own strength. It’s important to teach kids how to properly interact with pets to protect both the child and animal. A cat may also be testing boundaries with a child at first. Care and supervision and teaching respect is needed when kids and pets are together.

One thing I forgot to mention is that my cat didn’t use claws when he swatted my kitten. If a cat has its claws out when they hit, they usually mean harm.

Yes, cats can show jealousy, often reacting when they feel their owner’s attention is divided, especially if a new pet or person is introduced.
