So I left for the day to visit a friend I haven’t seen in a while. I went to his house, and he had a brand new car, no pets whatsoever. I got home, my cat came up to me, and I picked him up, gave him a few pets, set him down on the floor, and he started hissing at me and clawed my thigh. So, I decided to take a shower, assuming it might be the smell. I slept it off and left him out of the room to give him space. When I woke up to feed him, he heard the food and came running to me without hissing at first. But as soon as I put the food down, he started hissing again! What do I do?
This has happened before when I visited a friend who had cats, so I initially thought it could be the smell. But this time, there were no cats involved, and now I’m anxious because I feel like he’ll keep hissing at me and follow me until he scratches me again.
My cat is super loving usually, except on days I’m gone longer than usual. She’s very needy and hates being alone. I leave the TV on for her when I’m out, and it helps a little. I think it’s a possessive behavior.

Your cat is mad you left for so long. It’s like a parent worried when their kid stays out late.
