Help! My cat is crying and in visible pain

Hello, when I got home from work today, I noticed my cat was using the potty more frequently than usual. Then I noticed he was much more noisy than usual and didn’t want to eat, which is rare for him. I also noticed he was licking his crotch more, so I checked him and discovered his penis was slightly red and oozing urine. He currently won’t move much and is quite sensitive to our touches on his belly. I’m not sure what’s going on and am concerned. We’ve had him for a year, and he’s a healthy 5-year-old tuxedo cat. There are no weight or known health issues. By the time I reached home, the vet had closed. I’m not sure whether I should wait until the morning or whether this is a serious medical emergency. He isn’t vomiting and has only eaten dry cat food. If he is still, he does not meow.

All you need to do is to see the Vet now this sounds like potential severe uti

On my way there. Do not want to risk it at all and I hate seeing him like this.

I am glad you are taking him in. Could be blocked and that gets bad fast once they start showing signs. Good vibes and chin rubs for your guy.

I have a 5-year-old tuxedo too. He’s my baby  I hope your kitty is okay. Sounds like a UTI or blockage. Keep us updated on what the vet has said.

One morning, when I went to retrieve my cat out of his chamber (the entire finished basement), I discovered paw prints in his litter but no urine. I took him up, and he growled and hissed at me. He’d never done that before. We quickly brought him to the emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with a blockage that was causing him pain when attempting to pee.

They expressed his bladder and pee came out, so they gave him medication and informed us that if he didn’t pee within 24 hours, he’d have to come back for surgery.

Fortunately, he peed within a few hours. We are currently feeding him prescription (Hills) urine food. Male cats are far more likely to suffer from this problem than female cats.

With a male cat, I nearly guarantee that he has a urinary obstruction that needs to be cleared.

Good luck. I hope he’s okay.

This sounds like either a UTI or a kidney stone. I’m glad you’re taking him to the vet.

Good luck to you and your little buddy, and I hope he feels better soon.

I would go to the vet, even if it’s just in case. I’d want to know regardless. Happy, healing blessings for your kitty.
