Help bringing my cat from Canada to Taiwan

Hello everyone, I’m a Taiwanese Canadian trying to bring my pet cat to Taiwan from Toronto for the first time and I have some questions about the process. After doing some research and talking with veterinarians, they suggested that I get my cat to do a pricey and lengthy (6-8 weeks) rabies anti-titer blood test (RNATT). I’m wondering if that’s actually required for entry to Taiwan. I also understand that the vet will need to complete a health checkup to ensure he is suitable for flight, but they told me I need to contact the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) for a health checkup as well. Are these steps all necessary or can some of them be omitted for efficiency and cost savings? Any advice on my circumstances would be really helpful. Thank you.

I’m not sure about the RNATT, but I think it’s better to check the latest regulations from Taiwan’s animal import policies. They can change often.

Yeah, I agree with DEF. It’s worth checking with the authorities in Taiwan to make sure you have everything right. There might be other requirements too.

I had a similar situation before. The rabies test was a bit of a hassle, but it was necessary for entry. You might want to just follow all the steps to be safe.

I think contacting the CFIA is a good move too. They can provide you with specific requirements for your situation. Better safe than sorry.

Also, make sure you keep all the documentation ready for the flight. It can get complicated if you don’t have everything in order.
