Help a stray cat or just let it be... anyone else had to decide?

So, I’m out hunting about 3 hours from home and tonight this super friendly black cat showed up at our door. She’s really skinny and it’s snowing here, like 26 degrees. We gave her some turkey and leftover chicken, and she gobbled it down! I’m thinking about contacting the campground owners but she looks too thin for a pet. If I get duped by a cat that knows how to beg, I’ll be relieved. Should I try to catch her, drive her 3 hours home, and get her adopted? I can’t keep her, as much as I want to. Or should I just leave her and hope she survives? Cats are good at that, right? Anyway, what do you all think?

You should definitely help her! With the weather like this, she needs all the help she can get. If she’s friendly, she might have been abandoned. Think about taking her to a no-kill shelter or a rescue. They can find her a home.

@Neve
Totally agree! Leaving her out there is risky. Even if you can’t keep her, getting her somewhere safe could save her life.

Exactly! Plus, if you can’t find a cage, maybe just use a box or something? It’s worth the try!

Yeah, she needs help for sure. If you leave her, she might not survive the winter. Plus, you could find someone in your area to adopt her. It’s worth reaching out!

Good point! I’d feel terrible if I just left her behind and then something happened.

@Lake
Exactly! You’d regret it later. Better to act now rather than wait.

She’s probably not used to being outside. If she’s that friendly, she’s likely been a pet. You should definitely try to help her out!

Right? If she was feral, she wouldn’t be so friendly. Sounds like she needs a break.

If you can’t keep her, maybe contact a shelter to see if they can help? They might even have a program for situations like this.

That sounds smart! I’d hate to just leave her out there. She could get hurt.

You mentioned having to drive 3 hours… that’s a long way! But honestly, it might be worth it to save her. You could always look for local rescues along the way.

True! Even a little detour could make a big difference. I’d just feel bad leaving her behind.
