I had to put my dog down, and years later, I am still haunted by it. My pup was a Russkiy Toy Terrier, the sweetest little guy you could imagine. He loved me, and I know it. The average lifespan is about 12 years, and he was only 10 when we made the decision. The vet said he had a neurological disorder and was going blind in one eye. My parents decided to put him down because he was running into things, pottying inside, and had a hard time getting up. He would roll over to get up, but often he’d just fall back down after a long nap. They said he was suffering, and the vet diagnosed him with a neurological disorder. So they went ahead and put him down.
I’m so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you had a really special bond with him.

Thanks… I just wish I had spoken up more.

It’s tough. We often second-guess ourselves in those situations.
I can’t imagine how hard that must be. It sounds like he still had a lot of love to give.

He really did… I miss him every day.

It’s completely understandable to feel that way. You’re not alone in this.
It sounds like your pup was still enjoying life, even if things were a bit tough. It’s hard to know what to do in those situations.

Exactly… I just feel like we took away his chance to enjoy his remaining years.
@Taylor
That’s a heavy burden to carry. It’s hard to make those calls, especially when emotions run high.
I can relate. I lost my dog a few years back, and it still hurts thinking about it.

I’m sorry to hear that. It really never gets easy, does it?

No, it doesn’t. But talking about it helps sometimes.
It’s true, pets deserve the same rights as us. It’s a tough decision to make.

It feels so selfish… like we didn’t give him a fair chance.

I get that. It’s a hard reality we face with our beloved pets.
