Dog keeps wheezing and coughing

Our dog has been wheezing and coughing for some time now. We’ve given her medication for the cough, but there is no improvement. I suspect she might have something stuck in her windpipe. Should I take her to the vet? I’m not sure what to do.

You should take her to a vet immediately; it sounds like she might have heartworms.

You should take her to a vet as soon as possible; it could be serious.

Don’t jump to conclusions, but it’s important to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Respiratory issues need prompt attention. Your dog could potentially be contagious, like with kennel cough, so it’s best to keep them away from other dogs for now.

Yes, whenever a pet shows signs of distress or unusual behavior, they should be examined by your vet. Unfortunately, pets can’t tell us how they feel, so worrisome symptoms likely indicate they need professional care. Hope everything is okay with your pet. Please keep us updated.
