I keep telling myself this is a routine surgery vets do every day. I just can’t help being anxious because this is my soul dog and I don’t know what I’d do if anything happens to her. She helped me through losing my dad earlier this year, and I’m just terrified something is going to go wrong and I’ll lose her too.
Also, assuming the surgery is successful, I’m worried about post-op recovery. She’s already taken off the donut cone I bought, so I got a recovery suit instead. Has anyone had success with those?
TL;DR: I’m a nervous wreck about my dog getting spay surgery tomorrow and need reassurance it’s going to be okay and we’ll get through this.
I’ve seen many dogs get spayed, and they all came through just fine! If she needs a cone, she’ll have to wear it, but see how it goes. If they offer blood work, definitely take it—it’s worth it for peace of mind.
Deep breaths! You are totally normal to be worried. Keep an eye on her incision and keep things low-key during recovery. She’ll be back to her usual self in no time.
