Cat emergency help needed

I found my cat with a gash in the side of his face, right beside his eye. I can’t tell if it’s just one spot or a line down his face. I can’t take him to the vet because I have no money and have been jobless for a while now. He seems fine, but he smells really bad. I wish I could show a picture for more help, but this thread doesn’t allow it. Does anyone know of any resources or assistance in or near Toledo, Ohio?

Reach out to some rescues in your area. They might be able to help with vet care. Wishing you and your fur baby the best!

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into local rescues right away.

You should clean the wound with saltwater if you can. It might help until you can get to a vet.

I’ll try that. Is there a specific way to mix it?

Just mix a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water. Use a clean cloth to gently clean the wound.

Check if there are any low-cost clinics nearby. Sometimes they offer sliding scale fees based on income.

I didn’t know about that! I’ll search for low-cost clinics in my area.

Make sure to keep an eye on the wound for any signs of infection. If it gets worse, you might need to find a way to get him seen.

Definitely. I’ll monitor it closely.

Consider asking friends or family for a little help, even if it’s just for a vet visit. Sometimes people are willing to chip in.

That’s a good idea! I’ll reach out to them.
