So, I wanted to share this wild experience with my cat, Garfield, whom I adopted a month ago. He’s 7 years old and spent 5 years in a shelter and 2 years in a foster home. It took him five months just to come out from under the couch during the day. He’s super scared of people and won’t let anyone pet him. He’s always wide-eyed and hiding in a corner. I decided to adopt him because he really needed a chance. Today, he had to get his vaccine update, and let me tell you, getting him into the crate was a battle. He bit me once during that struggle. At the vet, he bit me again, and I was just trying to help him. I’ve never touched him, so I have no idea what his fur feels like. But when I got home and after I fed him, I found him curled up against my feet while I was trying to relax. Like, what?! This cat who was so terrified of me is now sleeping next to me. I can’t even move because I need to pee. What is happening here?
That’s such a heartwarming story! It sounds like he’s starting to trust you, even if it’s just a little.
Wow, he really sounds like a tough little guy. It’s amazing he’s sleeping next to you after everything. Just give him time.
It’s so common for rescue cats to take time to adjust. You’re doing great by being patient with him!
Sounds like he’s been through a lot. Just keep talking to him and letting him come to you. He’ll warm up eventually!
I can’t believe he bit you through the gloves! But hey, at least he’s showing signs of comfort now. That’s progress!
Don’t worry about needing to pee! Just wait a little longer. It’s so sweet he’s next to you. He’s starting to trust you!
