Can Dogs Eat Blue Cheese?

I’ve heard conflicting opinions about whether dogs can safely eat blue cheese. My pup seems curious whenever I have some, but I’m worried about potential health risks. Has anyone here given their dog blue cheese before? How did they react, and did you notice any side effects? I want to treat my furry friend, but I also want to make sure it’s safe for them.

I would not advocate giving my dog blue cheese. Dogs should not consume excessive salt, because blue cheese is heavy in sodium and may cause stomach problems. Furthermore, many dogs are lactose intolerant or have dairy allergies, which can result in vomiting or diarrhea. Furthermore, blue cheese can decay and produce dangerous compounds such as Roquefortine C, which is poisonous. It is preferable to stick with safer snacks for my dog.

Blue cheese is dangerous for dogs because it contains a substance called roquefortine C that can make them sick. It might also cause lactose intolerance in dogs. If your dog eats blue cheese, watch them closely for any problems and call your vet for advice.

Make sure to avoid cheeses such as Roquefort and Blue Cheese. Not only are these cheeses heavy in fat, but dogs may die from eating roquephorin if it reaches an extremely ripe state.
