Can anyone help me with my canary situation...?

I’m feeling shocked today and could use some support. I have two canaries, a male and a female. This morning, I found out a predator bird attacked that one of them. I only found the head left and I’m devastated. :sob: The other canary seems okay though; he’s still singing and eating.

I’m really worried about how this might affect him. The cage was intact on the balcony, so I think it might have been an eagle or something. I’m looking for advice on how to prevent this from happening again, and I’d love to hear any tips on coping with this loss. Do you think the surviving bird knows what happened? Thanks for any help you can give!

I’m so sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is really tough. It sounds like the surviving canary is doing okay for now. Have you thought about bringing the cage inside?

That’s really sad. I’ve had canaries too, and they can be sensitive. Maybe the other bird will adjust, but I’d keep an eye on him. Have you checked with a vet?

I’m really sorry about your canary… I think the other one might know something’s up, but they can adapt. Just give him some extra love.

It’s tough, for sure. I’ve heard that singing can help them feel better, so maybe play some soft music or talk to him more. What do you think?

I totally get how you feel. I lost a bird once too. It helps to talk about it, so keep sharing. And yeah, keeping the cage inside might help!
